Precision Carbine Course

Requirements:
 - No Rifle experience required.

About the class:

During the 2 day carbine course the students will start with learning how to
build a stable shooting platform, followed by practice on trigger squeeze
and malfunction drills. Once the basics of body position and trigger
squeeze is acquired, we will talk about how to properly utilize the scope to
acquire and engage targets. We will discuss how to use the reticle for
ranging and engaging the targets effectively as well as discussing the
difference between Minute of Angle (MOA) and Mil Radian (MILrad)
reticles.

After the initial discussion period, we will zero the rifles at 100 yards. Once
zero is established, students will perform 3 grouping exercises with 5
rounds each to improve their ability to manage recoil and “Call their shots”.

Once the grouping is conducted and all students are comfortable with recoil
management, the distance will increase to 300 yards and students will
begin to shoot on the steel gongs, while the partners will learn how to read
Trace and how to make corrections to get their partner on target.

Once everyone is able to read trace we will move the distance out to 500
and 600 yards utilizing both reading trace and calling winds in order to get
the shooter on target.

On day two of instruction students will work in teams and we will run
through different scenarios intended to get the students heart rate up and
have them think through the firing solution for multiple different
engagements.
